Light is a powerful symbol. From darkness comes light. Lights On Stratford was born in response to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
Colourful new festival will highlight Stratford’s tourism recovery efforts this winter (Stratford Beacon Herald, September 1, 2020)
Stratford is home to some of the world’s best artists, lighting designers, props builders and creative minds. Lights On Stratford harnesses this precious resource of local talent to craft a truly unique experience that can’t be found anywhere else.
This winter festival represents a lifeline for many of these local artists and theatre professionals.
And that’s just the beginning. The beacons of Stratford-made light sculptures, displays, exhibits and projections will attract and amaze visitors, who in turn will strengthen and grow a robust and diversified year round tourism economy. This will provide much-needed support to the myriad Stratford businesses that help define the character of our city and rely on tourism for their survival.
The Lights On Stratford 2021 theme is JOURNEY – “an act of traveling from one place to another.” As we emerge from the constraints of having to stay home, missing our friends, family or favourite places; the sense of wonder and delight experienced within a journey will be celebrated anew. This year, Lights On Stratford aims to bring the adventure of travel to the public spaces of Stratford by showcasing exhibits that explore motion, transportation, worldly (and other-worldly) landmarks and multicultural exhibits of light.
Free to the public and designed to be safely enjoyed with physical distancing and on-site staff, Lights On Stratford will light up this winter starting December 17th, 2021 through to January 21st, 2022.
Lights On Stratford is designed to be a high profile annual festival that delights thousands of local residents and visitors from throughout the region.
As both an economic recovery initiative and a cultural attraction, Lights On Stratford is an impactful sponsorship opportunity with integrity, prestige and unique exposure for you and/or your organization.
